Dead Cells: A guide to cheesing 5 Boss Cells (V35 The End is Near update) (2024)

Welcome to our guide for Dead Cells’ 5 Boss Cells cheesing in the V35 The End is Near update! Sick of constantly being taken out in two hits while playing on 5 Boss Cells? Well, with this guide, you’ll have the power to take down enemies in just one shot (almost)! Just a heads up, this method may lessen the fun of the game for some players. But don’t worry, we’re not forcing you to use it. Let’s dive in!

Introduction and Disclaimer

Disclaimer: I have not actually beaten the final boss of 5 Boss Cells yet. I can, however, vouch for how stupidly easy this strategy is right up until the final boss. If you are the type who would rather solve puzzles on your own and/or you would rather solve problems with your own strength, then DO NOT USE THIS GUIDE. I do not take responsibility for any reduced fun while playing Dead Cells.

Skip around to the other sections if you only want one specific part of the guide, or use the Strategy section for the TLDR. I had a lot of fun coming up with this strategy and even using it(as braindead as it may be at times). This strategy also doubles as a fun way to farm cells to level up your Legendary Forge, so make sure you save your cells for after each boss!

One major tip: USE THE WIKI[deadcells.wiki.gg]! If you can think of a way to improve this strategy, have more fun, and make it your own then DO IT! I guarantee you that you will be more satisfied if you come up with at least some part of the strategy on your own.

Strategy(TLDR)

Using the Damned aspect and the Cursed Flask and Demonic Strength mutations allows for infinite healing and stacking your damage boost as high as you would like. The one downside is taking double damage, but switching out your mutations before the final boss should help to mitigate that issue. Here are the quick and easy steps:

0. Set up Custom Mode.

1. Equip the Damned aspect before entering Prisoner’s Quarters.

2. Make sure not to miss any scrolls. Be extra thorough and open every cursed chest(there’s no risk with Damned anyways), complete every challenge rift, kill every enemy so as not to miss starred enemies which drop scrolls, don’t skip Prison, and route through the best paths for more scrolls if necessary.

3. Take the Cursed Flask as your first mutation.

4. Take Demonic Strength as your second mutation.

4.5 Optional step: Take Armadillopack as your third mutation. This one mutation paired with the Rampart shield will single-handedly save you from numerous fatal scenarios.

5. After entering your third area, stand in any safe area where Malaise continues to accumulate in you. Hold down the flask button with a weight(or a rubber band for controller) and go AFK for some time. Return once you have at least a few thousand stacks of curse. You now have enough damage to one-shot every single enemy, and infinite flask charges. Heal when you need to and have fun tearing through the game right up until the final boss!

6. Before entering the final boss fight, switch out your mutations to ones more suited for survival. The boss cannot be one-shot, so your scrolls and dodging abilities will come into play here.

Custom Mode settings

– Choose your favorite melee and ranged weapons and pad out the remaining of the 20 needed slots with deployable traps, grenades, and powers of your choice.

– Set the only shield to Rampart. The force field it generates is immensely valuable to survive multi-hit attacks.

– I recommend including powers such as Ice Armor, Tonic, and Barricade to increase your chances of surviving at 1HP.

– The less items, the better. Make sure to include 20 in order to still earn achievements.

– If you commonly die to defense-buffed enemies guarding legendaries on floors 1 and 2, I highly recommend this step. Advanced options: Disable legendary weapons ON. Try to obtain legendary weapons from no-hitting bosses instead(this will be extremely easy with the Cursed Flask + Demonic Strength mutation anyways).

Aspect

– You MUST choose the Damned aspect for this strategy to work. I would not recommend trying to beat 5 Boss Cells while being perma-cursed.

– Make sure to reequip Damned after every death. It will be annoying to reequip it each and every time, but it will save you having to redo the whole entire run when you inevitably die by curse when you forgot to select your aspect.

Recommended Mutations(early game)

These mutations should last you up until the final boss.

1. Cursed Flask
2. Demonic Strength
3. Armadillopack

Recommended Mutations(final boss)

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND switching out your mutations to help out with the final boss. The damage boost of Demonic Strength isn’t really necessary because the final boss can only take 5% of its HP as damage in each hit anyways, so the damage from having a ton of scrolls should be enough all on its own.

Healing focused build:
1. Emergency Triage
2. Extended Healing
3. Cursed Flask

One-shot protection focused build:
1. Ygdar Orus Li Ox (pick it up instead of the first mutation, replacing Armadillopack in the early game)
2. Disengagement
3. Emergency Triage

Recommended Loadout

Early game:
– Whatever weapons and powers you find most fun! If you only use the same weapons every single time, the game would get boring real fast.
– Easiest melee weapons to land a hit on enemies before they can attack you. Slow weapons generally won’t be good enough for the attack speed of 5 Boss Cells enemies.
– Homing or rapid-firing ranged weapons. Since every shot will likely one-shot enemies, firing with speed and accuracy is more important than having high DPH like a more traditional build.

Final boss:
– Multi-hit weapons, preferably with longer range. The boss can only take 5% of its maximum HP as damage per hit so the faster you can get 20 hits in, the better.
– Any weapon or power that provides you with some form of damage reduction or damage mitigation. The fight WILL take longer than you anticipate it to, so survival is still key here.

Recommended Route

This route will always have the most possible scrolls and should also be useful for farming cells.

1. Prisoner’s Quarters
2. Toxic Sewers
2.5 Corrupted Prison
3. Ancient Sewers
4. Insufferable Crypt(Conjunctivius)
5. Slumbering Sanctuary
6. Cavern
7. Guardian’s Haven(Giant)
8. High Peak Castle
9. Throne Room(Hand of the King)
10. Spoiler Area
11. Spoiler Boss

Remember, if you need certain achievements or want to fight a different final boss, don’t be afraid to use a different route! Use the biome map from the wiki[deadcells.wiki.gg] to help you decide which route to take.
